When to trade in on a 2008 CTS

Asked by Sep 06, 2013 at 07:49 PM about the 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6L DI

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I have a 2008 CTS with almost 85K miles - about to be out of warrenty.  Love the car! and have had NO problems. Should I keep it (and it's OK payments) and keep my fingers crossed, or trade to a newer model with lower milage (and higher payments)? ie. a 2011 CTS with 20K miles and lots left on warrenty?

I maintain my cars till they die or when I have a reason to up size or downsize. It's much cheaper than buying new all the time and paying for a warranty that you might never use. It's up to you what your comfort level is and how you want to spend your money. You'll get many different opinions, none that might be right for you. If you like the car, keep it!

With these Reviews I'd keep it and drive till the wheels fell off. http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/2008-Cadillac-CTS-Reviews-c8189

As long as it's not giving you problems keep it at least until it's paid for. Otherwise you'll still be paying for it AND the newer one. The money you owe on the old one doesn't go away it just gets added to the cost of the new car. So now you're paying for two cars. One of which you no longer have. HTH. -Jim
