C0ULD BE AS SIMPLE AS A BAD PRESSURE SWITCH or as serious as a bad oil pump. A bad pump can result in an engine that's completely destroyed in less than a couple minutes

To add to Tom's answer, just for example like 2007 GM added a screen under the oil pressure switch that gets plugged with debris as it it a fine screen. Don't know if yours has one but worth looking into. Also, I had found out on some cars intermittently flashing oil light indicates something else may be wrong related to this circuit. Have the car scanned for codes to see what pops up.

Replace the oil pressure sender and see if that fixes it.

How much typically can this cost? Did you resolve the issue I have the same problem?

A sending unit costs maybe $20 - 30. Installation should be a half hour or less
