Asked by Jan 21, 2016 at 08:54 PM about the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: General

I have a 2008 grand prix.
The arlam goes off for no reason. I had to pull the

battery.

Sounds like a problem with the anti-theft module. Try locking the car using the power door lock switch instead of the key fob until you can get it looked at. I'm not as familiar with the later models but on my '00 the alarm is very sensitive. A strong gust of wind or loud motorcycle will set it off for about 10 seconds. If I don't use the fob the alarm is not set. HTH. -Jim

Check under your steering wheel to see if the wires running up the steering wheel to your ignition are broken...Pontiac made the wires too short and will cause problems with your security system...may just have to have the wires lengthened and reconnected...
