When you say "a long time" do you mean a few days? Or a few weeks or longer? If your battery is dying after only sitting a week or even two weeks something is draining it. But if you regularly leave the car sit for weeks (more than 2) at a time this is considered normal & you need to disconnect the negative (-) battery cable when you park it. HTH. -Jim
