what made our tranmission fail with only 43,000 miles on vehicle
we take great care of our truck mostly use on Sundays and vacations but we do pull a 5th wheel 24 ft trailer empty weight 5120 we never fill water tanks just reg frig stuff and clothes toiletries etc seemed to pull good took one trip to red river nm and one to oklahoma to roman nose the rest were close to home bout 120 round trip what do you think was it just a fluke or was it pulling a trailer
According to Chevy the towing capacity is 10500, so you didn't exceed it. Have you serviced the transmission at least once? If so did they put the proper fluid back in, replaced the filters? Is your tranny cooler working and not plugged or restricted? Just some thing to check.
Sometime parts just fail.
My Sister has the exact same truck as you. Her transmission failed last August (2012). She's never towed or hauled anything with the truck. She bought it new in September of 2007. She got lucky and it failed three weeks before the 5 year/ 50,000 mile powertrain warranty expired. Could be just a weak spot on these trucks. HTH. -Jim
