why will my car push start but not start by the starter even when the starter turns the engine over
Could be a bad ignition switch, when you turn the key to crank it turn off the power to the coils or the engine is so tired that it takes a faster spin to sling the rotor seals out far enough to make enough compression so it fires off that pushing the vehicle allows that too happen. You can test for coil power with a test light on the coils power wire while cranking. You really need the correct compression tester for a rotary engine to do the compression. When you do get it fired off does it seem to blow blue smoke a lot longer than it use too? How is the oil consumption? Has it increased?
