Check engine light along with the VSC Trac and VSC off lights????

Asked by Donzer Dec 14, 2018 at 09:38 AM about the 2005 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition V8 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Check engine light along with the trac control and 2 other lights came on a lot.  I ended up replacing the gas cap.  Worked for a couple months. Now, whenever my gas tank falls below the 1/4 tank line, they all pop on again.  When I fill up and drive around some more, they turn off on their own.  It is really annoying...nothing more.  what might be causing it??

Codes is p0442 from the Diagnostic tool from AutoZone: https://www.google.com/search? q=p0442+code+toyota&oq=p&aqs=chrome.0.69i59l3j69i60l3.1247j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie =UTF-8 I bought the suggested part from the AutoZone's diagnostic tool. I replaced the purge valve, drove 150 miles, the check engine light, VSC Trac and VSC off light is still on. That did not seem to work for me, even though AutoZone's diagnostic tool told me that is the item I should buy. Other suggestions from forums include replacing the fuel cap. I checked my rubber ring on my fuel cap and there was a slight crack on it. I went back to AutoZone and bought an after- market fuel cap for $11. I've just driven it around for another 20 miles, but the light is still on. Will try driving more tomorrow. Let me know if you guys found a solution. Driving a 2002 Toyota 4runner 4WD
