Have you checked anything with the speedometer wiring in the tranny?
it's only one sensor on transmission at rear of transmission i've checked the connector whats got me odometer is still working but speedometer doesn't there fore check engine on - no abs light, has po500 speed sensor A malfuction
As your odometer works the speed sensor is operating as it should, so either you have a broken circuit in the ic board for the speedo or the speedo stepper motor has failed, I have seen these motors fail before so it can happen.
so can these ic board or stepper motor be repaired/replaced or you replace whole speedometer cluster ? jw trying to figure best route to getting this explorer fixed
They can be repaired, most speedo shops will ship the whole assembly out and get it rebuilt. There were at one time some places on E-bay that had you ship your cluster to them they would overhaul it and send it back, or if your really inclined you could locate a good used one and transfer the good stuff onto your cluster.
