Some rotors have the minimum thickness stamped on the outer edge.

i would recommend replacing the rotors, they are made without much leeway in turning, and if the pads have grooved them, plus the usual rust, it would make them out of balance and dangerous

By law all brake rotors & drums are required to have their minimum or "discard" thickness stamped on them. Usually on the outer edge as mentioned above. HTH. -Jim
