Just purchase my second S2000. First 2003, no problems. 2007, rear differential noise. Anybody else experiencing this problem. Also, bubbling on shifter, miner cosmetic (dealershippromised to fix). Thanks

I did a quick search to see if there were any recalls and I couldn't find any. There weren't any consumer complaints of rear noise either. Did the dealership say anything about the noise coming from the back?

I have 05 S2K with the same problem, cliking noise frm right rear, not sure if it is frm suspension components or differential. It happens during quick start or backing out of my drive way. I blieve dealership serv dept is aware of this problem. Going to the dealership tomorrow morning...

The S2000 rear differential is notorious for being weak, more so in the earlier years. I would make sure the dealer fixed it now so it doesn't come back to bite you in the ass later. Also, this car is not a dragster, so don't launch it like one. You will messup the rear diffy.

the clicking noise is from the axle. honda says to remove the axle nut and use honda lube on the axle surface were it mates to the hub. and retorque the new axle nut to the new torque standard that is per the TSB or just over tighten the hell out of it. i did and the noise went away. u can find out more about this at s2ki.com

I have a 2001 S2000 and had the problems of the clicking in the rear end. It started happening after I did a burn out before a run down the strip. 3 weeks later, did a hard shift from 1st to 2nd and the rear diff blew. Definitely have to be careful with these rearends... very weak. For the person whose car was click coming out of the driveway, sounds like a roller coaster ascent doesnt it? Well just be cautious and let that rear end last as long as possible. Looking at $800+ to replace.

It could be that the rear diff fluid needs to be changed, cause i know all the other honda's have similar problems, if the rear fluid isn't changed often enough it make weird noises, especially when turning corners. I wokr at honda and have about one of these a week, CR-V's, Ridgelines, Pilots and i've only seen one S2000 so far.

Honda put out a diffrent diff fluid... go to the dealer and tell them what your hearing they should be able to get it fixed.

The diff in the car is very weak if your keep having problem there is a converstion for the s2000 to put the 350z diff which is much strong my suggestion is put m1 sync diff fluid and change it every 15k

maybe the dealership you bought ur s2k from they beat the living shit out of it. i know for myself i do. or maybe they had a kid who did not know how to drive stick bring your car in the shop to be PDIed and he probly grinded the shit out of your rear diff. quick fix change the rear fluid with honda duel pump fluid 2.
