torque converter and torque converter seal replacement

Asked by GuruWPSB4 May 19, 2018 at 12:04 PM about the 2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

hello, i have a 2007 ford explorer with an aftermarket warrentee. i had
leakage from under my transmition which ford dealer diagnosed as a bad
torque converter seal. after the repair and my payment which included 100
deductable and an additional 2-300 for unincluded hardware i have the same
leake the same night with less than 50 miles drivin on vehicle after repair i
brought the car back to ford where they now diagnose a bad torque
converter.. i spoke with the warrentee company supervisor who has a
bachelor in automotive technology and many years field experience and he
said ford misdiagnosed the issue and the will cover the torque converter
since it is bad but labor was already paid for on original diagnosis.( i have
pictures of the old torque converter attached). there are groves and wear
marks on the converter that i believe ford should have noticed during original
repair and then my torque converter replacement would have been covered
by warrentee on the first shop visit. i now have had my car in the shop for
over a month(April 18th original drop off, today is may 19th) and ford is
charging me $1100 to complete repair. i would like to know if this definitely
should have been caught in the first repair go around. thank you

The warrentee company has already paid 2500 and I have already paid 1000 for this repair as well as 3 bearing and hub assembly’s which forces me to replace 2 rear axles due to corrosion on the threads. The 2-300 I paid was just hardware on the torque converter(nuts and bolts plus deductible) so ford got their money for this repair properly so now I’m in at 3500 on repairs and issue still persists. Maybe I should have worded my question with further detail. Any change in thoughts with this info? Thank you

Also I have paid 1500 for the Warrrntee so I’m am in a ton of money already and should receive better results

Also not didn’t save me money as the warrentee would have covered it so what they did has cost me money
