How do you reset engine oil light on a highlander with the smart entry (keyless) option

Asked by tomtpa Feb 15, 2009 at 06:43 PM about the 2008 Toyota Highlander Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have seen answers on how to do this with a keyed highlander but it requires turning the key into the on position.  There is no such thing with the smart entry system as all you have is a start button.

You press the odometer button on your dashboard. Make sure it's on ODO not trip A or trip B. Turn off your car. Take your foot off the brake and turn on the car. Light will go on but the car will not start. This is the way to reset your maintenance light. Good luck.

i have a 2011 highlander... this process worked for me, but with the trip A button, not the odometer button.

It worked on my 09 Highlander by using the Trip A setting vs the ODO. YAY!
