Can replacing the hose to the egr valve improperly or with the improper hose, cause the engine to over heat, stall and not start or cause a fuel injector to go out,?

Not likely, in a special set of circumstances it could cause a stall at idle, but that is very rare. They used vinyl lines back then but the new replacement hoses are high heat silicone coated and they last a lot longer.

EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculate. The EGR introduces exhaust into the combustion process to lower combustion temperatures which reduces detonation and pinging and reduces NOX gases. It will not cause engine to overheat, or affect the fuel injectors. It can cause an engine to run rough and possibly stall.
