How much are you adding? Losing a some every 3000miles is considered normal. You could just be burning it, as it slips past your valve seals or piston rings as the tolerances of the motor increase with age.

if you are losing oil and there are no apparent leaks (I assume you have left it running for a while on a relatively clean surface and looked underneath afterwards) then it is either going into the water or out of the exhaust. get someone else to blip the throttle whilst you stand behind the car and look for blue white smoke. do that from cold and from hot
