Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My transmission has been giving me issues recently. I pour transmission fluid into it and
it runs for a little bit but then it starts to shift really hard after 20 minutes of running and
it then just stops shifting and then it wont move the truck. I then turn the truck off and let
it sit for about 5 minutes and then when i start it up again i can go for about 10 minutes
and it does the same thing all over again. After I parked it I opened the hood and saw a
ton of smoke come out of it, and it was coming from a black tube that ran downwards in
the engine. What is wrong with my transmission? I don't want to have to replace the
whole transmission. So if that is the problem then i am just selling the pickup for parts.
Please help

Have you serviced the tranny lately. If not then change the fluid, fliter and add a quart of TransX then fill to specs, the TransX will help clean the solenoids. You should also check the trans cooler, make sure it is not plugged up.

to add to that, make sure your adding to the proper level and not just dumping "some" in.
