Would you take this car on a trip like this? (See explanation)
Here are the details: 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van. 3.3L engine.
155,000 miles. Has had no major mechanical problems to date. Recently
replaced radiator and hoses.
Would you take this van on a 3,500 mile journey? The journey will be mostly
major highways. I guess I'm just concerned that a trip of this length (and
given the van's age and miles) would potentially cause mechanical issues. My
other option is renting a car.
Thanks for the advice.
My opinion, any car can have mechanical issues at any time, but if the car is maintained, your odds are decreased. Make sure the tires pressures are good and all fluids are topped off and go on your trip. Sounds like your prepared, so that's better than winging it. But like you said , if it makes you feel better to renting one, that is an option.
My 2005 Town and Country minivan with 95,000 miles was driven from Wisconsin to Washington DC and back without any probelms
p.s. if you have AAA membership and experience a car problem that can't be repaired the same day, AAA provides car rental, overnight hotel, $$ for expenses incurred while car is being repaired. Highly recommend purchasing AAA membership.
