I have no left tail light or license plate light. Bulbs and fuse m17 are all good. Where do I go from here???

what can you do when your gear shift is registering that it is in reverse when it actually positioned in park? I just experienced this and had to turn the car off or else it would have keep moving backward. Now i am not able to turn the car back on without it being in the park position.
