07 mini cooper s,gas gage not reading rite,says 3/4 tank but ran out twice,fault code saying elec. curent fot temp. senser to low,fan comes on when start car,put in new thermastart housing does same.

07 mini s,engine light on,shut it off,drive for about 50 to 100 miles,turn off       
engine,start back up light comes back on.when start car cooling fan comes
on.put in new thermastat housing,same thing happens.now power getting to
sensor.all wires ok,relay ok,if i unplug the first big bunch of wires going in
the ecu the fan goes off,then plug it back in fan stays off till i start it
again.engine runs great but cant go through emissions couse engine light
stays on.sounds like the ecu is not good,safe mood?any help out there?

Try to isolate each problem. Make sure that your gas tank float and sensor are working properly. Test the wires for continuity. If that's okay, then you know the problem is either farther up the loom, a fuse, or an ECU issue. Do the same for the temp sensor. If the voltage is low, it's possible that there's a current leak on that circuit. Follow procedures for finding current leaks, charles humblemechanic youtube video is an excellent example.
