If you lost all the coolant and drove it for 10 miles your motor is now a boat anchor.

lost all the coolant and I'm afraid that's the problem myself my mom's husband is a ASE certified mechanic and he said that there is a possibility that I warped the heads but I only drove it till it got completely hot and stopped so he said there's a chance it could be okay as well I hope there is it's turning over and wanting to start I found out my battery was completely dead because it's at so long and the cells in it were bad I just replaced it today still not starting

If you trust your step dad I would go with his advice as he has eyes on the car and I do not. He may just be trying to make you feel better about it. I would be saving up for a new engine if I liked the car and planned on keeping it.

The problem is once you lose the coolant the gauge reading is no longer accurate. You probably drove it until it was red hot. You could have the step dad do a compression test and drop the pan to inspect the bearings and cylinder bores which is the only way to know for sure.

Yeah I figured it's inevitable I'll find out what happens but thanks for taking the time to at least answer me I figured it's a big paperweight and I just bought the dang car 3 months ago

Sorry to hear that. At this point you could compare the value of the car in running condition to the cost of a new motor installed and see if it is worth fixing.
