Changed water pump and thermostat and still overheated leaking out the over flow tank

Can you check circulation through radiator, cool engine? Sometimes for testing, I leave the thermostat out, hook everything up, make sure coolant level is full. Even on a cold engine, the circulation is instant if you have radiator cap and you can see the coolant. After having the cooling system open, did you bleed the air out? How hot does it get in degrees F? Does the radiator fan work? Your saying the coolant reservoir fills up in a hurry and over-flows? Another thought is a problem with head gasket.
