SHIFTING GEAR PROBLEM: My 96 Cavalier won't shift into first gear when the car is on. It gets stuck but when it's off, it shifts fine. What could the problem be?

hyd.clutch slave cylinder not pushing clutch arm to open clutch, air in line or out of dot 3 fluid at reservoir on firewall, may need bleed after refill, and a leak must be somewhere as this should not lose fluid ever
