MY NEW STARTER
I JUST PUT IN A BRAND NEW STARTER WHY DO I HEAR A HIGH PITCH
SQUEEL WHEN I START MY CAR IS IT SUPPOSE TO SOUND LIKE THAT
UNTIL THE NEW STARTER IS BROKE IN?
no! maybe the squeal isn't the starter. pull the serpentine belt and check the bearings on all the pulleys.
it only started squealing right after the starter was put in never before what are the odds that the bearings went bad as soon as the new starter went in
Check the belt tensioner first if the belt isn't tight enough it will squeal. If you turn on the AC and you hear the noise you hear at start up your looking in the right place. However if the starter isn't the correct one for your car it may give off a squeal as it is turning to start. When the starter was rebuilt the rebuilder. may have used the wrong starter drive or the wrong nose piece on the starter not allowing it to align perfectly like it should. Make sure the noise is coming from the starter before you blame it. It may be just the serpentine belt slipping
figured out the problem totally forgot to put the shim in the starter is sitting to far forward problem solved apparently you can't be in a hurry when dealing with cars thanks for the helpful advise everyone
Yep I have seen that happen many times back in the day.
