Asked by Nov 14, 2015 at 09:45 AM about the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer 4 Door LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 97 blazer and my key has always been. Little bent I have tried
to have a duplicate made several times but (not from locksmith or
dealership) the new key will unlock my doors but won't start the
ignition. Over the past few weeks it's gotten harder and harder to turn.
I'll have to wiggle and take key out and flip it over. Well now nothing. I
can't turn it to on I can still tunrn it backwards to acc with a lot of
jiggling and shaking. I really need a quick fi. Please help

you are going to need to install a new lock cylinder in the column. not that hard, some good youtube vids on the subject.

After you replace the lock cylinder you'll have to get the new transponder key programmed to your Blazer. Otherwise it won't start because of the security system. Best to let your local Chevy Dealer handle this. HTH. -Jim
