Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer v6 it does have around
230,000 miles on it, original engine and transmission, it
ran perfectly this morning and then all of a sudden
after my lunch break it started to shake alot, I thought
maybe sparkplugs and changed them but nothing, it
kept shaking, and every time I rev the engine the
engine shakes alot, and there is like a small tick or
knock noise coming from the engine, I scanned it and
it had the P0300 code and the P0102 code as well. I
turned it on and it takes a little bit to start up and if it's
at a stop it would randomly shut off. Someone please
help me out I don't know what it could be.

P0300 is just the generic code for random misfire..... Misfires are usually caused by something in the ignition: plugs, wires, vacuum problems, or air leaks around improper or improperly installed plugs. Start there to check all of these..... As your problem began suddenly, it's kinda likely it's a defective crankshaft position sensor (timing). but it might be the EGR or PCV valve, or maybe a failed O2 sensor.

When was the last time you did a tune up (spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor)? On this vehicle it should be done every 30 months or 30,000 miles! If it's been longer than that or you don't know, I'd start there. The P0102 code is telling us there's a problem with the MAF (Mass AirFow sensor). Low voltage. So you could have a bad MAF sensor or the wiring going to the sensor could have a bad connection. If you have one of those cold air intake set ups on it, get rid of it! The oil for the air filter will gum up the MAF. Hope that helps! Jim

Distributor cap is most likely the problem on that motor.

THANK YOU ALL!!!! After seeing everyone's response I started to check the distributor and the wires, I didn't notice the wires had some plastic around it and I didn't see it cause it blend in really well with it, the wires were in really bad shape and I checked the distributor and the cap had a small crack on it so I replaced cap and wires and it started up smooth and ran like new. Thank you everyone.
