Grinding noise drivers side of Car. Manual car. 160k miles

My 2001 volvo c70 (Manual) has a sort of metallic grinding noise coming in front of the drivers side, i think it only makes the noise when my steering wheel is not straight forward

Check you aren't low on power steering fluid. A bad wheel bearing or your rack and pinion assembly can also make noises when turning. You could have someone turn the wheel while you observe/listen under the hood to pinpoint if the noise of coming from there.
checked power steering and its not full but its definitely not empty. and I know I need cv joints could that have something to do with it
low power steering fluid will make a moaning noise, more so when you turn, but that doesn't sound like your symptoms. Your CV joints could also make noise like that, so I would have those checked out.
Possibly the constant velocity (CV) joints, which allow for the wheels to be steered on a front-wheel drive car while still having drive from the transmission. Basically a drive axle with a flexible joint in it. CV joints are very often the cause of noise in FWD cars when the steering is turned while driving, especially when you use full lock to do a U-turn. The CV joints are usually covered with rubber boots and these must be kept in good condition to seal out dirt and dust. If you can raise the front of the car and "drive it" - that is, put it into gear and allow the wheels to be spinning while turning the steering - then you can listen and pinpoint the noise. But make sure to do this SAFELY! Put the car on axle stands on firm level ground and DO NOT get under any car that is supported only by a jack.
