Airbag warning light Z3 2.0L 2001
Hi,, probs with (red) airbag warning light staying on continuously.. different
garages give me different reasons.. seat occupancy pad (now fixed I
hope); seat belt tensioner; latest is replace the steering spill ring (at about
1000AUS$, about 500 British pounds)! But driving back from this latest
service, light is now out! QUESTION - is it dangerous to drive with the light
ON.. will it affect the functioning of the airbags - some say "yes", others
"no" so am confused
With the airbag light on the airbags will NOT deploy, even in a collision. When the light is on the computer needs to be scanned for codes to find out exactly what is wrong. Just throwing parts at the problem gets expensive fast! HTH. -Jim
Thanks Jim.. latest computer code said that the spill ring is faulty (not available as a spare part in Australasia so needs to be imported from Germany)... but light is now out!! So, do you think I should replace it or not?!! As you say, expensive fast!!
You're welcome. Glad to help. Honestly, if the light is off I'd leave it alone. My motto is if it works, don't fix it. HTH. -Jim
