My trunk is leaking and water pools around the battery. Is there an easy fix for this?

Asked by Sep 14, 2015 at 09:15 PM about the 1997 BMW Z3 2 Dr 1.9 Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1997 BMW Z3 convertible has just recently started to leak in the trunk.
The water pools in the battery pan and it has created rust on the pan.  Is
there an easy way to find out where the water is coming in?

Weather strip where?

Around the trunk lid- it is also possible that the water is coming in somewhere else- a mechanic knows how to test this- you could always get a midget to crawl in the trunk and spray it at a car wash- sorry, my brain just does this sometimes-
