Yes, but in today's market it will be cheaper to replace it than rebuild it. To do a proper job you will have to replace the brushes and bearings, check for opens or shorts in the armature, have the commuter turned to make sure it is round and the contacts are clean and intact, if there is an open or short in the armature then it needs to be replaced, then depending on the starter type, if it has electric fields, they will have to be checked for opens or shorts, if they are bad then they will have to be replaced also, some starters now have permanate fields so unless they are broke or cracked your good, and finally replace the drive gear. That is it for the starter, now if your starter has a solenoid on it that should also be replaced. Hope this clears things up.

Yes, many parts to replace. Could be an expensive proposition! Find a shop that rebuilds call and get a quote! Call big box auto store ask for price of a new one, a remanufactured one, and core charge if any? Now you can compare the 4 alternatives!
