is it my starter?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

tried to start my chev. cavalier this morning after 'norma'l behaviour the day before
(keeping in mind its a beater). electrical works (lights etc) and battery has its charge.
sooo.. missing some teeth from my flywheel, or, buy a starter?

See if you can get it to turn over by shorting across the solenoid. If so the solenoid might be bad.

Exactly what is it doing? Nothing? Clicking? Lights dim badly or go out? Terrible noise? Spinning freely? -Jim
