Question about a 2000 Mercedes-Benz 230 SLK Kompressor. I'm trying to remove the instrument cluster to get behind it to replace a bulb. I've removed 1 screw up under the right side. 1 screw around the steering wheel adjustment trim and that has been removed. 1 screw on the left side under a panel where some fuses are. And 2 screws under where the trim of the steering wheel adjustment was. A total of 5 screws. Can't see any others. Can get a little movement, so I'm on the right track. But am hesitant to try and force it any more on account of breaking anything.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chips

Disconnect the battery, feel the back of the steering wheel for 2 holes, use a T25 torx screw driver and undo the screws. Remove the airbag. Use a 10mm Allen key to undo the steering wheel. Cut a wire coat hanger into 2 eight inch pieces and using a pair of pliers bend the tip of each into a small hook. Slide one of the hooks down each side of the instrument binnacle and turn inwards. Pull the instrument binnacle out. Reach behind the instruments and unscrew the speedo cable. Job done.

was told my 2000 slk kompressor needed a whole new cluster. has anyone heard of this before. was told almost $2000 for repairs. please help
