Are the injectors on a 2000 cavalier 2.4 the same as a 1997 2.4 even though the plug ins are different?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My nephew purchased a 2000 cavalier that someone put a 1997 engine in.
I know I will have to change the ECM because they are different but are the injectors the same internally?

No, you'll have to buy the injectors for the '97 model. Check and you'll see what I mean. Both 1997 and 2000 models are OBD II. So the PCMs should be the same. You may have to have the PCM flashed (programmed) using the '97 vehicle identification number though. HTH. -Jim

The ECM is different. They work from 97-99. 00 -01 are the same. The injector problem is that 97 injectors won't plug in to a 00 harness. That is why I needed to know if they are different and what the difference is. The only solution I have is find a 97 harness and solder and heat shrink the connectors to the injectors. CLUSTER XOXO
