WILL THE 4.7 ENGINE OUT OF A 2002 DOD RAM 1500 WORK IN A 2005 DODGE RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the motor in my 05 dodge ram 1500 with a 4.7 out of a 02 dodge ram 1500 but it will not run and I noticed that the 02 dodge ram had 2 computers and the 05 only has one and the motor will not crank should it work or not

As long as you transferred all of the electronics from the 05 to the 02 engine it should work fine. I'm sure you totally disconnected the battery during this operation and did not use the preset saver tool during the operation, if this the case then the anti theft system is in full disable mode and there is a good chance that the computer has lost all of its factory programming. So first try the disarm procedure listed in the owners manual for the anti theft, once that is turned off then see if you can get anything to work, if not then you will have to have it towed to a dodge dealer and have the computer reflashed and hope it turns everything back on and won't need replaced. The pic is a pic of a cheap one that will keep the system active for about 3 hours, I have a better one that plug directly into the OBD2 port and can keep the system alive until my power supply goes dead and it will last long as my shop power is turned on.
