2001 ford sport trac 4wd when pulling a hill a/c fan cuts out. does anyone know why?
Ford uses a WOT setting in the ECM programming that shuts down the A/C compressor reaches a certain percentage of throttle plate opening, I think it's around 78% engine under load, so climbing a hill, it is normal and built in, then only way you can change it is to have the ECM reprogrammed to raise the limit. A bully dog or something similar has steps to guide you through the reset.
Of course you could just rewire the A/C system and set everything up with toggle switches, and achieve the same result as a reprogrammer.
