my 2005 s430 made really loud sounds with fan when i turned it off recently. then i tried to drive it again and it went into rising mode without pushing the button then dash read airmatic suspension visit shop. any ideas what this will cost to fix?
when the car was making all kinds of loud banging sounds for about 15 mins after
turning it off, it also had a strong rubber smell and there was some smoke or steam
coming from the coolant tank next to the windshield fluid tub. then when i tried to
drive again the car went into rising mode without me hitting the button. the airmatic
suspension visit shop light came on and car seems to be stuck in high mode. now
when i turn the car off there is no sound of fan coming on at all...
sounds like somethin' done broke! what a wild set of symptoms you describe- the obvious thing is to take it to a good mechanic and no, I have no idea what it will cost to fix- it is a Mercedes, after all- do you have a good Merc mechanic? if you don't it is time to find one you can trust- your car is banging, belching, burning, rising up and down, even when it is turned off? sounds like a job for the Exorcist-
