Info on fuel pump on S500 1996 mercdees

Does this vehicle have to separate fuel pumps I've get put fuel
down the intake it cranks but wont stay running And then when it
was running you might drive it a week it would just shut off Do you
have any answers

If you have the port under the steering wheel, you could get the codes read. OBD II was standard right around 1996.
