2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid refuel is ready light keeps turning on. How do I turn it off?

I checked the fuel tank and gas cap, both were tightly secured. I filled my tank to full and the warning light still continues to haunt me.

I have the same problem. Happened the same time you posted. My wife ended up taking it to the dealer. $58 for diagnosis, them another $144 to replace the fuel door, which opens and closes fine. Arghhh! They had to order the part first, meaning 2 visit to boot! So I ask the same question as you - can it be disabled or something?
