Dear fish-- The ECT on your Toyota 4Runner stands for Electonically Controlled Transmission. It changes the shift points on your transmission from the standard rpm. setting to a higher rpm. setting. You will get a sportier feel starting off and you might also feel a little more power when going up a hill. Remember, however, that the higher setting will decrease your gas mileage and increase wear on your engine and transmission. Good luck from Bovan.

Is it ok to put into ECT PWR mode while driving OR do I put it on when stopped? It scares me a little as I’ve never used it but will soon be driving through WY, UT, NV & CA, over some steep grades!
