how does the ect work on the 4 wheel drive

Dear fish-- The ECT on your Toyota 4Runner stands for Electonically Controlled Transmission. It changes the shift points on your transmission from the standard rpm. setting to a higher rpm. setting. You will get a sportier feel starting off and you might also feel a little more power when going up a hill. Is it ok to put into ECT PWR mode while driving OR do I put it on when stopped? It scares me a little as I’ve never used it but will soon be driving through WY, UT, NV & CA, over some steep grades!
