never changed radiator fluid. A friend said it looked really rusty so he drained
it last night and refilled it, but now this morning it starting bogging out and

Putting new antifreeze into the system wouldn't in most cases stop the car from running. It's probably another issue. Did he replace the fluid with Dex-Cool antifreeze? Then you should be fine. Is your check engine light on?

You should be careful when working on 21st Century cars- if you put the wrong coolant in, it can mess things up- things are a little more complicated these days-

If the car overheated due to low coolant level the engine could have seized up. Were there any warning lights on when the car quit?
