Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 grand prix 6 cyl 3.8 liter . I am desperate for answers PLEASE HELP!!
Just recently my car stalled while driving. Tried to restart but nothing would not turn over
no sound when turning the key NOTHING. left it came back next day car started right
up. drove to get gas car starts then stalls when I put it in reverse the progressively gets
worse and shuts me out again. car has new battery, plugs and wires and ignition coils.
the EVAP purge solenoid was completely broken and replaced two days ago still
stalling and shutting out. The guy working on my car stumped at what it could be. I am
just trying to avoid bringing it to the dealer because I can't afford a million dollars just to
figure it out . any suggestions would be appreciated : )

Also no light but it threw a few codes . "one being the shift solenoid B electrical/circuit". the other codes were related to an engine light malfunction.

Had the same thing happen w/ my 2005 GP 3.8 on multiple occasions. I've fallen down this rabbit hole more than once. From my experience, I've found that the solution to any random misfiring, sputtering, intermittent stalls, is to replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM). I've replaced this part on my 05 GP 3 times now. Don't buy the f-ing ValuCraft, the $20 savings is not worth it. Get the Duralast brand. There must be a manufacturing defect w/ this part, because it goes out so often. Note: in all fairness, if you have multiple engine misfires happening due to other issues, this can blow the ICM. However, in my experience, replacing the ICM once a year has become a routine maintenance step. 210,000+ miles on the GP, and this seems to be the only component that constantly fails. Just my 2 cents.

Another note/symptom: mornings when it rained out or it was really humid the night before, the GP would sputter until warmed up in the AM. Seems moisture, or air moisture has an effect. Again, replacing the ICM made this problem go away (for a while at least).
