High Pitch Squeak When Accelerating Over 2000rpm on Pontiac Grand Prix SE 2002 3.1L
Hello, my Pontiac Grand Prix SE 2002 3.1 squeaks (high pitch) really bad when
I accelerate above 2000 RPM, if you leave the gas pressed, it keeps doing it
and it doesn't go away, it only goes away when I don't step on the gas pedal.
The noise comes from the driver side, apparently from the throttle body
section. I attach photo of where it's exactly coming from.
The water pump, belt tensioner and belt got recently replaced.
Does anybody know what is going on?
I'd check the big air intake hose first. Make sure it's securely attached to the throttle body. Check that hard plastic hose that plugs into the air intake hose (PCV System fresh air intake hose). The round metal "can" looking thing at the top right of the circled area with GM 12564563 on top of it is the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. It may be sucking air due to a bad mounting gasket. Lastly, inspect the vacuum hoses in that area. Make sure none are damaged or disconnected. HTH. -Jim
