Most likely one of the hub bearing assemblies is bad. The ABS wheel speed sensors are built into the hub bearing assemblies. You can also check the wiring going to the sensors, especially to the front wheels. If the ABS light comes on and remains on when you start the engine it's going to be a hub assembly or the wiring going to it. But if the ABS light comes on when you start the engine then goes off but comes back on when the vehicle starts moving it's the ABS pump and modulator assembly. When you first start the engine the ABS computer runs a self check of the ABS system. This includes the wheel speed sensors and the computer itself. If all that is ok the ABS light will go off. When you shift into drive and the vehicle starts moving the ABS computer checks the ABS pump and modulator assembly by running it for a few seconds. If the pump and modulator assembly check fails the ABS light will come back on. The ABS and traction control systems work together. Anytime a problem is found in the ABS system the traction control system is disabled until the ABS system is fixed. That's why the trac off button light is on and pushing the button won't shut it off. It's letting you know the traction control system is disabled. Hope that helps! Jim

Ignore it like I have for the last 5 years. They didn't have that years ago so what good is it except to spend money!
