Asked by Oct 11, 2016 at 11:37 AM about the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Everytime I turn my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP on the clock reads 1:00,
Radio/CD player are off, and the volume is at min. Any Ideas?

They all work fine just annoying switching to CD and turning the volume up
every time I get in the car.

Sounds like the stereo system is losing power every time the ignition is shut off. Check your fuses. There's two power feeds to the radio. One is switched by the ignition key and the other is supposed to be hot all the time to save the clock, station presets, etc. HTH. -Jim

The radio display problem is common with these cars. The light bulb behind the display gets finicky before it goes out completely. I used to pluck the display to get it to come on. The replacement bulb can be found on eBay. An auto radio repair shop can replace it for you. I had mine replaced about 2 years ago. The bulb from eBay was about $15 and the shop charged me $50 to change it. That's actually not related to the other issue you're having. HTH. - Jim
