Check the fluid level,if memory serves this car has no dipstick only a red cap screwed into top of trans driver side under exaust crossover pipe. Inquire at a qualified service center chevy dealer as pontiac is out of business fluid type is a plus 4 i may be wrong on that incorrect fluid WILL cause damage to internal components. As will incorrect levels ie over filled. This problem my require repair by a qualified transmission shop. Just remember do your homework on shop BEFORE authorizing repairs so you dont get burned.
