How do I reset the engine light in my 98 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8 Supercharged Engine

I have done a lot of work on my 98 Pontiac Grand
Prix 3.8 Supercharged Engine and the engine light
is still on.  How do I reset it?

Disconnect the battery for like 30 minutes or use a scanner. But if the problem has not ben fixed the codes will just come back and turn the check engine light on again.
