www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWx_eMwntHk -- check this out. It's possibly your flasher causing the issues.

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2001/pontiac/grand_am/recalls/ -- check this out to. There is a recall for this issue on your car. Contact your dealer to have recall taken care of.
