Fans not working

Asked by Espy Nov 14, 2014 at 12:17 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Fans are not working. Went to change
thermostat and my car doesn't have
one. Bought the car over a year ago

1 Answer

If theres no thermostat that tells me 1-that there was prolly an overheating issue so someone took it out. 2-with no thermostat the coolant wont get warm enough to trigger the fan switch so it will run. iit prolly needs a 185 degree thermostat in it. then see if the fans work. if not its a relay, fan switch, or the fan itself. thermostats are easy but theres some complicated things involved with electric fans.
