Asked by Oct 17, 2015 at 12:25 PM about the 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera 4 Dr S Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the third brake light works, i have checked all connections and bulbs, the
blinkers, hazards and tail lights work fine, checked the brake pedal switch
works fine for the third brake light , but i found a second switch also and was
wondering if this is another brake switch, if so great i'll replace it if not what is
the switch for and any ideas on why my lower brake lights wont come on?

The other switch is most likely the cruise control cancel switch. Your problem may be in the turn signal switch. The outboard brake lights get power from the brake light switch, through the turn signal switch. The third (high mount) brake light does not. It's wired directly to the brake light switch. Had the same problem with my '94 Fleetwood. Replaced the turn signal switch and it's fine. HTH. -Jim
