1995 Grand Marquis has a crazy sounding horn. Why is this?
Yea, you get some god awful sounding horns sometimes, you can replace the horns and with a little research you can get a sound that you like.
That all depends, most horns are meant to be obnoxious so they get your attention, on a ford you should have two horns, one is high tone the other is a low tone, if you don't have both of these then someone has changed them out for something else.
Thanks for your answers. I tried to find a way to get to horns but could not get the plastic guard holders out. Any thoughts?
SOME FACTORY HORNS YOU CAN ADJUST/CHANGE THERE SOUND...YOU CAN EVEN HAMMER ON IT .A LITTLE IT TO ALTER THERE SOUND...THEY ARE A MATCHED PAIR...YOU CAN ALSO JUST REPLACE ONE OR BOTH WITH A DIFFERENT TYPE SOUND FRQ....WHY AND HOW OFTEN IS THE HORE USED THAT ITS BOTHERING YOU?
ALSO A SMALL AMOUNT OF COTTON/ROPE INTO THE HORN DOES WONDERS..
some of those you just push in about an 1/8 of an inch and you can remove them with the pin intact, the others the pin has to be pushed all the way out, and so 9 times out of 10 you loose the pin and have to replace the entire pin clip. Everyone uses them so they are usually in the HELP rack in your local parts store.
Replace the horns.
