Have 2000 Town Car. Same problem, seat will not go forward or backward, all other positions work, does each one have a certain gear or can the memory have it messed up?

I'm assuming this is a big bench seat for both occupants.both halves of the seat have a link that makes one side behave just like the other. perhaps this link has fallen off- if it's electrial, one of the connectors has been bumped off.
