You need to find out what is wrong with the car and fix it before it will come out of failsafe mode, check out local shops in your area, you my get lucky and find one that specializes in Audi, they can check it out and tell you what it is going to take to fix it right. Don't disconnect the battery to try to reset the computer as this can cause more harm than good.

I got the car at an auction and there's only one person locally that works on Imports he said he would charge $120 just to plug it in and I'm a single mother of two I can't afford that is it going to be damaged by driving it in failsafe mode?

That's why it is called limp in or failsafe mode, to prevent damage, you will eventually have to get it fixed. Most of the rigs I drove in limpin mode reminded me of a 1200cc VW bug, just no power. So be careful driving it.
